Baby shower registry in Nigeria: what to add, and how friends can chip in

Updated Monday, 12 October 2026 · 5 min read

The short answer

A good baby shower registry covers the big items (car seat, stroller, cot), the everyday things you'll get through quickly (diapers, wipes, clothes in growing sizes) and a fund or two for later. On Spray each item is a cash fund: friends chip in any amount or cover the rest, family abroad can pay by card, and you buy what you want, when you need it.

  • Group your list: big items, everyday supplies, and funds for later.
  • Cash funds mean no duplicate bouncers, and you choose the brand.
  • Friends can chip in together on the bigger items.
  • Import items from Jumia, Konga or Amazon screenshots.

Why cash funds work better than a store registry

131.1%

A 2026 study by remittance company Remitly estimated a year's supply of baby formula in Nigeria at 131.1% of the average annual wage, the least affordable of the countries it compared.1

Store registries send one item to one address. In Nigeria most friends give by transfer, prices change, and you may want to buy closer to the due date or from a shop you trust. On Spray every item is a fund, so friends give towards it and the money goes to your bank account. You buy what you need, when you need it.

  • No duplicates: three friends can chip into one stroller.
  • Small gifts count: anyone can give any amount.
  • Cover the rest lets one friend finish an item off.

Set up your baby shower registry

  1. Choose Baby shower

Start a page and pick Baby shower. Add the name, the date and your link. Baby shower pages open on the wishlist.

  2. Add your items

Type them in, paste a product link, or import up to 6 screenshots of a Jumia, Konga or Amazon list. Spray reads the names and prices, and you tick what to add.

  3. Put the urgent things first

Guests start at the top, so lead with what you need from day one.

  4. Choose what guests see

Show prices and targets, and Show progress, can each be on or off for the whole page or one item.

  5. Keep cash gifts on

For friends who'd rather just send something, with a note.

  6. Turn on payments and share

Confirm who you are, add your bank account, and share your link in your groups.

Family abroad can join in

Turn on the currencies your family uses in Settings, and aunties in London or friends in Toronto can pay by card in pounds, dollars, euros or Canadian dollars. It reaches you in naira. They can add a short video or photo with their gift, and Spray makes the wishes into a montage film for you to keep.

Questions

What should I put on a baby shower registry?
The big items you'll need from day one, everyday supplies like diapers and wipes, and one or two funds for later, such as a diaper fund or hospital bills.
Can a friend set up the registry for me?
Yes. The simplest way is for the parent-to-be to host the page, so gifts go straight to their bank account, and add the friend as a co-host to help run it.
Can I hide how much each item has raised?
Yes. Turn off Show progress for the whole page, or just for one item.
