How much should you sell Aso Ebi for? 2026 prices, profit and pricing that sells
The short answer
Start from what the fabric costs you, decide whether to add a margin, and set a price your guests can actually pay, because unsold fabric costs more than a smaller profit. Prices reported in 2026 range widely: Daily Trust heard of ₦200,000 for 4 yards, while one bride priced hers at ₦40,000 so everyone could buy. Selling Aso Ebi at a profit to help with wedding costs is common, researchers note, but high prices leave out guests who can't buy.
- Price reports in 2026 run from about ₦40,000 to ₦200,000 for the fabric, from interviews, not a market average.
- Selling at a profit to help fund the wedding is common, according to academic work on Aso Ebi.
- High prices exclude: guests who don't buy can be left out of souvenirs and food, a University of Ibadan sociologist found.
- Textile imports rose 92% in value from 2023 to 2024 as the naira fell, so fabric costs more to buy in.
- Two or three price tiers, a firm closing date and pay-now rather than pay-later reduce unsold stock and debts.
What Aso Ebi costs in 2026
There is no official price series for Aso Ebi. What we have are prices people reported to journalists, at different times and in different markets. Use them as a sense of range, not as a going rate.
₦200,000
What one guest reported paying for 4 yards of Aso Ebi, in interviews by Daily Trust in August 2026. The same report heard of a bride who priced hers at ₦40,000 so that everyone could buy.1
| Item | Reported price | When and where | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aso Ebi, 4 yards | ₦200,000 | 2026, guest interviews | Daily Trust |
| Aso Ebi priced for full uptake | ₦40,000 | 2026, one bride | Daily Trust |
| Tailoring | From ₦40,000 | 2026, interviews | Daily Trust |
| Corset or beaded styles | ₦80,000 and up | 2026, interviews | Daily Trust |
| Gele tying | ₦10,000 to ₦15,000 | 2026, interviews | Daily Trust |
| Cheapest lace in Lagos markets | About ₦35,000 | 2025 festive season | NAN via Leadership |
| Lace, 3 yards | ₦85,000 | 2025, Lagos interviews | New Lines Magazine |
| Ankara | ₦40,000 | 2025, Lagos interviews | New Lines Magazine |
Tailoring and gele are on top of the fabric, which matters when you set your price: a guest weighing your Aso Ebi is weighing the whole outfit.123
Why fabric costs more to buy in
92%
The rise in the value of Nigeria's textile imports from 2023 (₦377bn) to 2024 (₦726bn), which Dataphyte, citing NBS data, linked to the fall in the naira.4
When the naira falls, imported fabric costs more to bring into the country, and that reaches the coordinator's quote before any margin is added. That is a reason to get a firm quote from your seller before you set guest prices, and to buy in stages if you can.4
Is it fair to make a profit on Aso Ebi?
Researchers who study Aso Ebi describe it as a mix of gift and sale. A 2023 review of Okechukwu Nwafor's book on Aso Ebi notes that selling it at a profit is common, and that the profit may go towards other wedding costs. Nwafor's earlier work describes buying Aso Ebi as part of a cycle of friendship and returned favours.56
There is a cost to pricing high. Oludayo Tade, a sociologist at the University of Ibadan, wrote in 2020 that as Aso Ebi has become more commercial, guests who don't buy can be left out of souvenirs and food at the event. A price set to fund the wedding can end up deciding who feels welcome at it.7
Pricing so people actually buy
Unsold fabric is the real risk. In one widely shared post in December 2025, a bride said her group of about 29 friends had bought no Aso Ebi two weeks before her wedding. It is one person's story, but it is the situation every coordinator wants to avoid.8
Letting people pay later carries its own risk. New Lines Magazine, interviewing people in Lagos in 2025, reported that guests who take fabric on credit often fail to pay, and that the debt strains friendships.3
- Offer two or three tiers, such as fabric only, fabric with gele, and a full package, as current wedding advice suggests.
- Price at least one tier for the friends you most want to see in the colours, even if the margin is small.
- Get fabric to guests 8 to 10 weeks before the wedding, so they have time for a tailor.
- Take payment before handing over fabric, rather than on promise.
The tiers and timeline come from LoveWeddingsNG's 2026 advice for coordinators, which also recommends keeping a record of each person's name, amount and date.9
Set your prices and sell on Spray
Work out your cost per package
Add up what each package costs you: fabric, any gele or cap, and anything else included. This is your floor.
Create your packages
In the Spray shop, add each tier as an item with a photo, a price and a short description like 5 yards of lace with a matching gele. Group them into sections, such as Bride's side and Groom's side.
Set stock and a closing date
Set how many of each you have, so you never sell fabric you don't have. Orders for an item close at 11:59 pm on its closing date. Leave enough time for tailors.
Decide who covers the fee
There is a small fee: ₦100 + 1.5% per payment, never more than ₦2,000. By default guests cover it on shop items, so you receive the full price you set. You can change this for the shop section.
Share the link
Post your link in the family and friends groups. Guests pay by transfer to your page's own account number or by card. Those who aren't ready can tap Remind me and pick when.
Let payments match themselves
A transfer of exactly one package's price, or a whole multiple, is matched to that package. Part payments from a guest with an order are added to it and show Partially paid. Anything unclear is marked Needs review, with a suggestion.

- There is no market average. Daily Trust reported prices from ₦40,000 to ₦200,000 for the fabric in 2026 interviews, with tailoring from ₦40,000 and gele tying ₦10,000 to ₦15,000 on top.
- Is it OK to make a profit on Aso Ebi?

- Current wedding advice from LoveWeddingsNG is 8 to 10 weeks before the wedding, so guests have time to get it sewn.
